| Just want to say again how superb the concert was tonight. They all sang just like I remembered them. And Shirley doesn't look like she has aged at all. Almost like she was a clone of her former self. |

| The Southend of Louisville has the wonderful Iroquois Ampitheater, that would be a perfect venue for an oldies concert reunion show. Has WAKY ever considered, trying to use this venue? We also have the old Colinial Gardens building that sits empty right accross from Iroquois Park. It would be great to see an Oldies Station step in and refurbish this club, and have it as a nightclub for seniors. There are plenty of us who still like to go out, dance and have a good time, but there really are no clubs left that cater to the over 50's crowd specifically. |

| This is not a question, but a comment. In the past few years I have made friends with Tom and Bill Summitt (The Trendells), Ronnie Lloyd, (drummer of the carnations), Paul Penny, Vernon Felty. (guitar player for the Carnations and now deceased) and I think they all deserve honorable mention in the Louisville's greatest bands section of your site. I have attended several shows featuring Paul Penny, The carnations, and the Trendells, Cosmo, and every one has been sold out. These guys were a big part of my teen years. We are all getting old, but these guys still have the voices and sing their hearts out at every performance. Keep them in mind...Don Fleming |

| IAM SO GLAD TO HEAR YOU BACK ON THE AIR. I STUMBLED ONTO YOUR STATION JUST THIS MORNING. I REMEMBER 79AM BACK IN 1962 WHEN MY OLDER BRO. WOULD HAVE HIS RADIO BLARING IN HIS 55 CHEV. WHILE HE WAS WORKING ON OR WAXING IT. I WAS 9AT THE TIME AND LISTENED DAILY UNTIL YOU WENT OFF THE AIR. WELCOME BACKKKKKKKKKKKKK. BUD |

| Not a question, but I wanted to definitely say Thank You for coming back! I hope WAKY will never have to go away. I listen at work, in the car, and I also get it at home in Lawrenceburg. Even get it in Frankfort in the car. I know the original WAKY79 went away, but I hope now that WAKY and the oldies format is back on 103.5 that it will stay for good. The rest of radio can't touch what WAKY is able to do and oldies music is the best there is. Even the jingles can't be touched by any of the other stations. WAKY just has it all. Since I found WAKY back earlier this year, I haven't listened to any other station since. No more having to channel surf to find good songs. I just keep it locked on WAKY and I'm all set. Tell everyone at the station and all the DJ's that everything they do is greatly appreciated. It takes great people to have a great station and that is what WAKY has. Great people, great music, and a great station. I will always be a loyal WAKY listener. |

| I so glad you follow the same format as back in the day of you hayday..I would come to louisville in the 60's 70's to visit family and could not wait to get in range to pick-up waky79. thanks |

| WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MIKE GIBSON, LEAD SINGER FOR EARLY MONARCHS |
| He is still around in Louisville. He performed for us at our 50th party at Churchill Downs last year. I don't think he does a lot of that these days though, but don't quote me, I don't know that for an absolute fact! |

| I am thrilled that WAKY is here to stay! So many wonderful memories from my childhood and teenage years, growing up in Hikes Point and crusin' the McDonald's and Frisch's. Even now, whenever I hear Tommy James and the Shondell's "Dragging the Line," I add the phrase "79" as one of the WAKY 790-AM jocks did a long, long time ago! Thanks for bringing back the music of our youth and our innocence. Great times, great music, great DJs. |

| I don't have a question, actually. I was a dedicated Internet listener of 1050 CHUM out of Toronto before they switched formats. I liked all the Canadian music they played that never even pretended to show up on an American radio station. However, I listened to Wacky around the time of the change to the oldies format in 1982, so it is nice to have you streaming online. However, I have heard Lighthouse's "One Fine Morning" a couple of times recently. That really helps fill in the gap of CHUM. I hope you could add something like Mashmakhan, since I know it charted some in the early 1970s. Thanks. |

| I saw where you listed the local bands from back in the 60's, one thing I noticed is there isn't any mention of Bobby Lanz and the Celtics. They were also very popular back in the 60" and 70"s. Just wondering why no mention? Enjoy WAKY as it is the only station on my radio as I grew up with Waky and WLS in Chicago back in the 60's, graduated from high school in 66, am no spring chicken today. I als grew up with Mike Baldwin in the same neighborhood in E-town. Keep up the GREAT music! |
| I am not sure why they aren't listed, I will chakc into it. Thanks for listening! |

| No question, just a comment...Don't ever change your format. I love listening to the oldies from 1950 up, I hear so many songs that I haven't heard for a long long time. I grew up with Waky & you are still #1 in my mind & heart. Thanks for being there. |
| Glad you are BACK. thanks |

| No question. I was surfing the stations today (normally I listen to CD's) and I heard the word WAKY... I instantly stopped what I was doing and listened. WOW ! I had no idea you guys were back. I LOVED WAKY ! I would walk around Louisville with my transistor radio (red and looked like a golf ball) that only played AM stations... and it stayed on WAKY at all times. Thank you so much for coming back. |
| Shannon, thanks! |

| No question just a comment. I am a born and raised Lexingtonian but my grandparents lived in Henry County. I basically grew up in Eminence and listed to WAKY 790 AM in the 70's. I remember very fondly Bill Bailey, Reed Yadon, Johnny Randolph, and Coyote Calhoun. What great radio and what memories you hav brought back! My grandfather and I used to argue over the radio dial since he liked WHAS. Lexington radio sucked and I couldn't wait until my weekend visits so I could listen to WAKY. I'm sooo glad you are back on the air and now streaming on the internet!!! I will listen to WAKY now all of the time! Thanks guys for the great memories! |

| Comment:Eddie Lee has the best show in town. This comes from a 57 year old guy who have lived by the radio for decades. I appreciate his energetic voice. |
| A.W.: I will see that Eddie gets your comment. I know he will appreciate it! Thanks for being a WAKY listener! |
| Not really a question but about 4 or 5 months ago I was driving along channel surfing and guess where I landed. Yes on Waky. I have not listen to Waky in many years. I just wanted to say welcome back and I am glad to here all of the oldies and voices from my younger years. Thanks for being the best channel ever.

| Thank you for finally getting the streaming done I can actually listen to WAKY during the day. This week went by so much faster, THANK YOU. One of my best memories of The Duke was when Miss Nude America visited and Bill got out a measuring tape to "check" the dimensions. He measured the chest and hips and Miss nude said to him "you forgot the waist" and Bill replied "I'm sorry I went right for the goodies didn't I". I do have a question for Johnny Randolph. I remember Coyote always complaining Johnny would only let him play "Come Monday" on Sunday night and I always wondered if this was true? |
| Not really a question, just wanted to thank you for finally streaming on the Internet. I listen at work when I can and in my truck. It's great to hear WAKY again. My Wife and I of 37 years used to listen to "The Duke", "Johnny Randolph" and all the others in the 70's. Thanks again and keep up the great job.
| Ed, you are most welcome! We are super glad you are listening! Thank you! |
| like many of the other posters, this is not a question: I'm 55 and vaguely remember the original WAKY launch from WGRC (stunting 'purple people eater'), and first visited the station in the KY Home Life Building...long long ago!
My best WAKY memory has to do with Johnny Randolph. While still in college, I was working summers at Opryland USA in Nashville (1974). While working the Flume Zoon log ride, I recognized Johnny...and without explaining, I introduced him to the huge group of people waiting in line. He had no clue as to who I was, or how I knew who he was. The people he was with gave him three levels of grief about it! And when the ride was over, I had the waiting crowd applaud wildly! I never said a word to JR! Gotta go...gonna fire off an e-mail to "The Duke". Thanks for streaming WAKY...I feel like dropping by Ehrler's next to Iroquois Park for a milkshake!

| Chris, thanks for sharing, we'll send this on to Johnny! |

| Wow! How good it is to hear WAKY streaming into Florida and all over the world. I have seen many requests for the stream on the site and now it's here. Congratulations for achieving what surely must be an expensive endeavor (can you say RIAA?) and I certainly hope it's one that can be maintained. Hearing the present day WAKY in Florida will bring a bit of home my way just as the holidays are about to spring upon us. Again... Congratulations to WAKY 103-5 on achieving a streaming audio feed. And Thanks. I shall be listening. |
| Travis, thanks! We appreciate it! |

| Luv U Guys!!!!
This isn't really a question, but I just wanted you guys to know that I've been listening to you since I was 13.(I'm now 57) I remember that you played a game called,Name It & Claim It! I called constantly to try to win & one day I did win a 45 record. I chose "Louie/Louie".
I was so excited that I had finally won a record! Anyway, I enjoy all of the memories of my high school yrs.@Eastern High & listening to Waky w/Bill Bailey & all.
Continued Success & keep those memories alive for all of us babyboomers!!!!!!!1

| Thanks for all your kind words, Sherry! So glad we can continue to be a part of your life! |

| Not a question but just a general comment. I am 28 so I was too young to remember when WAKY was current. I consider myself a lover of all genres and eras so I generally hate the wasteland that is Louisville radio... until I discovered you guys. I love that you're an "oldies" station that actually goes out of its way to play more than just the same Beach Boys, Elton John, Elvis, Beatles, Supremes, etc... songs that everyone already owns on vinyl, cd and our ipods like the former WRKA did. The 60's, 70's and early 80's gave us so much great music that sadly is being lost to time and I love that you're not afraid to play lesser known artists and more obscure hits from a bands catalog. Just a few mins ago I heard "409" by The Beach Boys, do you think WRKA would've played a Beach Boys song besides I Get Around, Good Vibrations, Wouldn't It Be Nice or the other five or six standards that everyone knows? Doubt it.
I just want you guys to promise that you're never going to sell out to woo three listeners who didn't stop at the dial before. You're the only radio station in Louisville that is actually listenable... please don't sell out to the Clear Channel/Radio One devil. |

| I discovered WAKY again about one year ago and was ecstatic! I have been listening ever since and tell everyone I know about it. I grew up listening and am over joyed to be listening again. I love "the oldies" and the wonderful memories I have as I listen to the songs. I feel young again. THANKS!!!!! |

| No question, just some comments. I grew up in the 60's in the westend of Louisville (22nd and Garland). I listened to Waky all the time when I worked at Smeltzer's grocery store across the street from my house. Some of you may recall, there was a bingo hall above the store, along with Sandy's tavern next door. Great era, great time!!!! I listened to the Duke of Louisville every morning when possible, along with his side-kick Reed Yadon doing weather and traffic reports. As I grew older and had a marriage, kids, then a divorce, I needed another house to live in. This was in 1986, first house I saw, I fell in love with. It was off St. Andrews Church Road in the southend of Louisville. The previous owner of the house was none other than Mr. Reed Yadon. What a small world this turned out to be. He had a lot of his weather maps and other gear he used on TV when he was doing weather for the local stations. Just a bit on nostalgia for someone who grew up on these two icons of Louisville radio! WAKY, thanks for all the memories I will carry to my grave. I still listen to you all every chance I get now!!!!!! |

| Does anyone remember a part time fill in DJ on WAKY named RICK DARBY - his legal name was Duard Dear and he was from the big town of Crandall IN = population 100. |
| I remember "Bouncing Bill Bailey" in the 60's. One great memory...The Duke was talking about kissing a lady and he said she was like kissing a "upright Hover Vacum cleaner". I still think of that often. Bill do you remember that comment? I listen each morning and evening on my 45 min. drive home.Would like to hear Bobby Vee, Bobby Venton and Brenda Lee. Thanks so much. |

| No question, wanted to thank WAKY for the Wednesday night concert, which I won the grand prize, Horseshoe night and golfing, listening more and more. Concert was a hit. Thanks again. Barb |

| Sorry I'm a bit late with this, but the picnic was outrageousely great. The groups sounded just as good as back in the day. Also, I just returned from the Fair and had a WAKY incredible time. Every segment was Stupendous. Thanks Again for bringing WAKY BACK. Bernie Tabler |

| This isnt a ques. but just a golden oldie moment for myself. In the 70's, I won a contest on WAKY, for a tongue twister. This was when Waky was on am station. Glad your back.!!!!!!!!! |
| Great format and it's so neat to hear some of the original deejays back! Hurray for WAKY and thanks for bringing back good memories that I can access just by clicking #1 on my car radio! |
| I can remember the convertible Ford Falcon with the top down in Seneca Park, dancing in the streets with WAKY. What great memories the station brings so many of us. The ONLY reason my father finally bought a car with a radio was to listen to Bill Bailey every day. Thanks so much for making us feel young again by coming back! Don't let it go!

| Just a comment - some of the fondest memories of my teenage years are when my friends & I were sitting on our blankets at the community swimming pool listening to WAKY. That was in the '60's. I only ran across this web site by accident - thought I might be able to find out some history on WAKY & the DJ's of that era, but was shocked to find that you're back on the air. Would LOVE to be able to listen in, but haven't been able to pick up the station here in Indiana. Will be tuning in next time I'm in the Louisville area. |
| If possible could it work out to have Bill and his daughter do a one hr show together again it would be fun to them on the air and it would fun to hear them again before Bill leave us for good not that I want him to pass I love bill in the 60's and the 70's and missed him when Waky was no more. Comment; I agree with all your listener and what they say about Waky then and now and I do remember hearing Flying Purple people eater and My Ding A Ling what fun it was to grow up in those time and it's great to relive the moments Laughing, Jokeing around, singing along, acting crazy, trying to impress the girls with our cars and the music. Those days will always be with me and now Waky helps to relive the times GREAT JOB WAKY WAKY LIVES FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS |
| David, we are so happy to have brought back this great era of radio...let's all keep being WAKY!! |
| Now that there is no other oldies station in Louisville...could you update your playlist to include some of the older 70s music that we grew up on.....the other station used to play a lot of the Jackson 5 and John Denver and Osmonds and Peter Frampton that kind of stuff......it is fun to listen to that stuff too.....that is what I would listen to on that station....so could you try to add that to Waky? They sponsored a lot of the concerts at the Fair back then with those groups....
Thanks
Ann |

| Why did your listeners not know about the move. I finally found WAKY this morning. I have listened to WRKA while working for years.
Just glad I found you again |

| WAKY...the good old days!!! So many memories, the best as so many have stated. What's Johnny Randolph's e-mail? Had trouble sending him a message on his contact page. I also have a copy of Shotgun Sam Lee's last program when he was on air on a reel. Is there a way to trasfer that to a disk of some kind? You guys are the best...helps us to feel young again. Thanks so very much for bringing our youth back. |

| Just wanted to give a big thanks to you all for what you do. I lived in J-town as a kid and then moved out to Henry Co. but always listened to WAKY when all my friends went FM. I spent most of the late 60s and early 70s with a transistor radio to my ear. The music then was phenomenal and the way WAKY DJs spun it made it even better. My best memory of WAKY was listening to and singing along to Chuck Berry's My Ding a ling when my Mom heard me she was about to wash my mouth out with soap until I cinvinced her it really was Chuck Berry. Also the WAKY Ramblin Raft Race. WOW we need more stuff like that!! It was GREAT!! Keep it up Guys you are gaining a whole new audience. My wife listens to WAKY all the time now. Thanks, Chuck Abney |

| to Johnny Randolph : I was at the 50th anniv. party for WAKY at Churchhill Downs and had a terrific time. Really enjoyed the oldie cars, all the bands, the hot dogs and PEPSI but most of all enjoyed talking to my favorite d-j Johnny Randolph. I was pleasantly surprised as to how sincerely or genuinely nice you are. I saw you talk to many people, take pictures, sign autographs and mingle in the crowd and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate a celebrity enjoying what he does. It is so refreshing. You are truly an asset to WAKY and the Louisville area. I enjoyed all the DJ's at the Ky State Fair at the oldies concert with Leslie Gore,Jay and the Americans and Lou Christie. You make WAKY as good today as it was in the 60's. THANKS |
| Not a question, just a memory. I remember before WAKY went on the air it seemed like weeks that they would have teasers. They would say things like "What's Waky? Everyone kept listening to find out what exactly WAKY was, and finally we did and it was without a doubt the greatest thing that ever happened to teenagers in this area. Congratulation WAKY for coming back and reviving all those old memories. |
| I simply want to say THANK YOU for playing the music of MY yesteryear and ask that you DONT STOP! Thank you! |
| Who played "The Purple People Eater" all day on their opening day. Was it WAKY or WKLO? I took my radio to the porch and blared it all over the neighborhood. I was in Jr. High, and I knew that "grownups hated Rock 'n roll" It was cool! |
| Gregg, that would be WAKY! |
| One summer I won a waky party. Every Saturday night we and our neighbors would sit out in our driveway and listen to waky on the radio. We would party with beer and soft drinks while the kids played kick ball in the street in front of our 5 houses. Waky had a newspaper then and we were interviewed in it. I still have that paper and would like to have a waky reminising party. Waky furnished us a tub full of ice and drinks for our party that I won and someone from waky came and interviewed us for an article in that paper. Please give away another waky party and let the same neighbors back then intrduce the party to the new winners. It would be good publicity for the radio station and you could take a picture of the same people now. Think hard about it. Barb Schroader |

| It was one hot summer day when I discovered WAKY. I was swimming out in my pool and was searching for something on the radio to listen to. It was then, that I discovered that WAKY was back on the air. I thought at first perhaps I had gone through a time warp. Anyway, I am glad its back. It reminds me of my younger days. And I LOVE IT! |

| WHEN CAN WE GET THIS IN DANVILLE ON THE RADIO
GREW UP LISIENING TO WAKY |
| When we broadcast on the net....hopefully someday soon! |
| My wife and I absolutely love WAKY. Though we can't always receive the signal here in Central KY, I am in the Louisville/Shelbyville area quite often and always listen to WAKY. I know that radio has changed greatly in recent years. Thank you for keeping the WAKY spirit alive! By the way, I loved hearing Johnny Randolph's interview with Paul Penny.(Any chance on interviewing other local legends? Mason Lee Dixon; Louie Lange and/or Mike Gibson of the Monarchs; Cosmo; Johnny Hourigan; George Poole, etc.?) Paul mentioned a number of old photos taken with such legends as the late Jumpin' Jack Sanders. Could those be posted on your website? Again, thanks for ALL you do to make radio fun again. Please keep up the great work. |
| Not a question...a comment....I remember going to Ahrens (1975-77) and hanging out in the lobby of the radio station and listening to Coyote Calhoun when he worked there and seeing him at the Fair when the Osmonds were there and WAKY sponsored their show....what a great station to have back on the air and love hearing from Bill Bailey! Keep up the great work and Happy 50th Birthday!!! |

| We love the WAKY radio broadcast. It seem that we can only receive your signal by sitting in the car each night. But now with gas so high and back seat so small, we would really love to hear the station indoors in the house. Please - Please - Please (Stream your broadcast on the web.) Signed: Your Faithful listeners, The Embry Family... |
| Mary, someday we hope to be able to do that! |
| I loved WAKY when I was growing up in the 70's and I am so glad you are back!My husband and I attended the Three Dog Night concert at Freeman Lake Park last July and has a great time. I just saw where REO Speedwagon is going to be there in July and we can't wait to go. Hopefully, there will be more concerts there. It is a beautiful park.
Thanks again |

| WAKY WAS GREAT IN THE 70'S AND 80'S,,,,BUT YOUR EVEN BETTER TODAY. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING, YOU'R #1 |

| Waky . Was always the BEST RADIO STATION EVER!The old days of cruizin 4th st and Playin in Kool with all the kids. Now those were the days. Out the window of one car down the hood and up on the trunk of another car and into a window with a car load of ......GIRLS!
LOL Friends everywhere and KING FISH. Good times were gone when we all thought we grew up. Then came along the only radio station that could even compare a fraction to what WAKY was and stood for. Waky shaped our lives gave a music we could listen too and be proud of. music that words had meaning. Something that made us fall in love with our childhood sweethearts and gave it meaning. Kool was a good radio station after WAKY was gone. We attended some of their events and sat with les and his wife. OUR kids were sending us every time! Then it seemd all dreams were lost. Kool gone country.
Whats country???? Oh that place we all went late at night to hang out and kissy huggy in those night spots. Lovers lane! LOL
Then one morning I was twistin the radio knob and needed something to replace Kool Country when sudden heard......W a k YYYYYYYYYYY!
Oh my gosh I was on it like a flash. Shame on you Les for not tellin me. I forgive ya because you had to keep a secret. I was a new kid thaqt morning. And Im still livin it now. Like new life!
The kids are going down the road and whispering....I never heard daddy sing all of a song before.
But here I am riding once again and listening to W a K Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Yes it AWESOME> Born and Bred WAKY BRED!
Now .....whens the secret sock hop I know ya gonna have one for all us OLDIES!
Bring it on for WAKY!!!!!
The BEST OVER ALL THE REST!!!!Oh and we can stay out now past 10pm. |

| I remember going to concerts at the old Louisville Gardens, such as Bob Seger for instance, and passing the station while walking to concert, stopping in to Shotgun Sam Lee,andjust GOOD times at places like Colonial Gardens and seeing good old bands such as Albatros,WOW does were the GOOD OLD DAYS!! Good Concerts in LOUISVILLE at Louisville Downs now and then as well as Louisville Gardens and the Fairgrounds, and cant forget the all Day SUMMER JAMS,with Headliners such as Ted Nugent,Eddie Money, and so many others. Those were the DAYS,not alot of Crazy Problems, but OH!!So!!MUCH FUN and ROCK and ROLL!!Why can't we bring some of thjis back!! |
| I enjoy listening to your station when I can. My problem is I'm at work most of the time. I know that some radio stations allow you to listen live via the web and I wondered if this is something WAKY has considered allowing their listeners to do? If you do already, I haven't figured out what to click on. Thanks. |
| Bob, we hope to stream someday in the future. Keep listening! |
| Just wanted to thank you for adding some Early & Mid 80's music to your playlist.Keep up the good work. Your station plays twice the Oldies Selections than WRKA plays. |
| Don't have a question but a comment for anybody interested there is a website www.79waky.com that will take you back to the good old days when waky and wklo radio were the best!!!! |
| I just got a new radio in my car with a screwy tuning knob and and just happened to find you guys I was amazed to hear Johnny Randolph!!! My best memories of WAKY was in the early 70's and listening to Mason Dixon in the late nights
and his weekly trivia any Idea where he is now? I was sorry to hear that wierd beard had passed away I remember when his son was missing and found dead a few days later that was very tragic but glad to hear that the "DUKE" was still with us I thought he died a fews years ago I am sure I will keep my radio tuned to 103.5!!! |
| Mason is living and working in Louisville, but no longer in radio. |
| Guys, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! My husband and I, both age 56, have our vehicles and home stations tuned to WAKY and totally love it. It is so funny when our grandkids get in the car and hear a remake of a song from my era done by an artist of today, they say "Grandma how do you know this song?" I just smile and say "it's an oldie", then together we sing along. It just goes to show that a good song and a good radio station never die. |
| First off, I still have the original "red" WAKY 79 "T-shirt that I won during a contest/promotion with Paramount Foods. I won the shirt, a case each of sweet and dill pickles, case of relish... and some other stuff. I cherish the T-shirt..It went with me to Germany 2 timesm Kansas, Oklahoma, California, Indiana, Italy, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait and Honduras/Ecuador. I am a die-hard WAKY fan. Do you have any idea where Mason Dixon is these day. Is he still kickin? Love you guys. Jack Benge, Louisville, KY Retired Sergeant Major (army) |

| Better late than never! I "found" WAKY again about a month ago and suddenly it was 1968 and I was dancing around the front yard listening to 790 WAKY on my Raspberry Radio Shack transistor singing to Tommy Roe's "Dizzy"! Keep up the great work! I LOVE IT! |

| Hello WAKY:
I grew up listening to the old WAKY as a teenager (70's) in Jeffersonville, IN. Bill Bailey was the only DJ in our household. My husband came across your station one day and started listening and told me about it. I am delighted to find out that Bill Bailey is still associated with WAKY and you are carrying on the tradition.
Thanks for the memories WAKY and Bill Bailey. |
| I CAN REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN BILL BAILEY WAS THE MAN AMONG US COOL CATS.AHRENS CLASS OF 67. WE HAD BUSSING BACK IN THE 60'S. WE RODE THE CITY BUS TO SCHOOL. I GOT OFF AT FIRST AND MARKET AND SPENT MY LUNCH MONEY AT WHITE CASTLE. WE WOULD WALK DOWN CHESTNUT AND MAKE FACES AT THE D.J. IN THE WINDOW AT THAT SISSY STATION WKLO. TO BE BE COOL YOU HAD TO LISTEN TO WAKY. FRIDAY NIGHTS AT IRIQUOIS GARDENS WITH BANDS LIKE THE MONARCKS, COSMO AND THE COUNTS OR THE CARNATIONS AND TRENDELLS OR CAR RACES AT THE FAIRGROUNDS,OR THE DRIVE IN. CRUISING 3RD. STREET FRICHES OR JERRY'S ON NEW CUT. 3RD. STREET FRICHES WAS THE ONLY PLACE YOU COULD GET A CHERRY PHOSPHATE. GOOD TO HAVE THE SOUNDS BACK. I LISTEN TO YOU AT WORK. |
| no question--just a comment...my workday begins very early in the morning & one of my favorite things about WAKY in 2008 is the National Anthem & the pledge of alligence @ 0600 to start the day...hearing all the favs from growing up with WAKY is a real treat---the songs bring back great memories---thanks WAKY!!! |
| Vicky, Thank you, thank you! We love to hear those comments! |
| Hello!
I stumbled upon your station at 5:00 a.m. this morning while getting ready for work. Loved it (again!)
Thanks for bringing back the good stuff!
Faye Brussell |
| Faye, thank you! We love you! |
| could you list remote locations or where you have promotional visits to local businesses on your website? |
| Rose, I will speak to our webmaster! Those should always be listed on our calendar. |
| Any thinking on getting to listen on the internet? Also, Mike Smith (the Dave Clark 5) passed away a couple of days ago. |
| Joe, we are still looking forward to the day we will stream! Hopefully, it won't be that much longer! |
| WAKY was our salvation when there was no TV and my two sisters and I would sit on our front porch swing and sing all day long to the songs. WAKY was my salvation when my boyfriend had a 3 hour lay over in LA on his way home from Vietnam and was murdered. WAKY was my salvation when my best friend was murdered by a AAA tow truck driver. And recently WAKY has kept my sanity playing songs we are all so familiar with, after a heart wrenching divorce after 34 years. I will always remember WAKY in slang books, who do you like best WKLO or WAKY and the contest who will be around the longest Elvis or the Beatles. I have a shirt from WAKY's 25th or so anniversary cause it has on it I've listened to WAKY for 25 years. The party then too was in Iroquois Park. I remember I think it was WAKY that threw balloons off the roof of a downtown theater and the balloons had prizes in them, The wind changed and blew them right where I was standing and I was crushed by the crowd. Thanks so much for bringing our landmark WAKY back, It deserves to be here as much as Churchhill Downs, Louisville Slugger, the Belle and Louisville Stonewear!! |
| Ginny, that was quite a testimonal! Whew! It makes us all the more glad we could bring this back for everyone. Thanks for being such a loyal fan for such a long time!! |
| I was listening to WAKY today and herd Bill Bailey. I heard them mention and email address to contact him and of course I didn't catch all if. Does anyone have it? If so I would love to have it so I can email him.
Thanks,
Kelli
WAKY is great! Brings back so many great memories! |
| Email him at theduke@waky1035.com. Thanks for listening, Kelli! |
| This is a comment. I just wanted to say how thrilled I was to hear that WAKY was back on the air.
I grew up with WAKY when everystation was on AM. The first song I remember was Elton Johns Crockidale Rock.
Thank you for bring back WAKY and all the wonderful memories of my childhood!!!!! |
| In what year and what 2 cities did the Beatles play 2 difference venues. Answer: cincinnati, Ohio Aug. 21, 1966, and flew to St, Louis and played Busch Stadium. The Cincy concert was scheduled for 8.20.66m=, but the rains came and the infamous TENT concert was the result. I was there and I have photos. Great Show.. |
| How about telling the year and singer group at the beginning and end of every song! |
| Hi Big R, We tell you the artist and song title most of the time. Sometimes we give the chart position and date but if we did that before and after every song it would create a lot of extra talk. Thanks for listening to WAKY! |
| What?? 50 years of WAKY?? Wow!!. It seems like only yesterday that I attended WAKY's 13th anniversary celebration which was held at the Iroquois Amphitheater in Iroquois Park. I'm thinking that the event was actually another in a series of WAKY Free Picnics which offered free LIVE entertainment, free hotdogs and free Pepsi-Cola. This one coincided with the station's anniversary and was billed as WAKY's 13th Birthday Party. There was even a large birthday cake for the event which was being guarded by the Weird Beard at center stage of the amphitheater. Exile, or The Exiles (memory is fuzzy here) were to be the entertainment and were setup on the outdoor open stage as well, but never played a note because it rained heavily throughout that entire day. Many of us tried to wait it out (soaked as we were) but eventually, the event had to be cancelled. During that summer, I was recording a series of skits on the WAKY Request Line during Weird Beard's radio show. He would playback my recordings, in "play, pause, play" fashion, making it sound as if we were having a two-way phone conversation on the air. He dubbed me as Telephone Travis, and while we did this nightly throughout the summer of '71, we did not meet until WAKY's 13th Birthday Party. Memories indeed. Happy 50th anniversary to WAKY. May the weather for the celebration be nothing like it was on that day back in '71; especially, if an event is to be held outdoors. |
| Happy 50th as of July 7 2008. Not too many stations can say that even with the same call letters, too bad that is not that same channel 790 am, but if was to happen it would be super but that's not to be. But anyway happy 50th, it's your golden year. Let's hear another 50 yrs to be....best wishes! |
| Happy 50th Birthday! I can remember as a teenager listening to WAKY on my transistor radio and I'm back listening again. I have a group of friends that are celebrating their 50th birthday this year (unfortunately I'm turning 60, but who's counting). We have decided to have a birthday celebration each month and do something special for this milestone year. How about WAKY joining us? |
| Linda, WAKY is working on soemthing for this summer to celebrate, if all goes the way we want! What did you have in mind for your celebration(s)??? Thanks for listening! |
| No question....talking with Johnny Randolph a fews days ago about 50 YEARS of wonderful WAKY Radio. Recalled the old days on WAKY when contests were 'the thing', you had a station break contest weekly. I won one using the songs of the day, won an album of my choice at one of the record shops. What do you think about reviving those types of station break contests or the like? Keep up the good job, Johhny R remains my favorite. |
| NO QUESTION HERE, BUT I WANTED YOU TO KNOW SOMETHINGS. I LIVED IN PLEASURE RIDGE PARK AND WENT TO PRP HIGH SCHOOL. I GOT A BRAND NEW TRANSISTOR RADIO FOR CHRISTMAS IN 1959 WHEN I WAS 12 YRS OLD. MY DAD KNEW HOW MUCH I LOVED WAKY RADIO. WELL, ON CHRISTMAS DAY, WE WENT TO MY UNCLE BUDDIES HOUSE AND HE WOULD NOT LET ME IN UNLESS I TURNED OFF WAKY. WELL GUESS WHAT? I SPENT THE WHOLE AFTERNOON ON THE FRONT PORCH IN THE FREEZING WEATHER LISTENING TO WAKY INSTEAD OF EATING TURKEY AND SPENDING TIME WITH MY FAMILY. HA HA!
MY UNCLE IS 85 YRS OLD NOW AND EVEN HE LAUGHS ABOUT THIS!!!
YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE RADIO STATION AND I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY YOU ARE BACK ON THE AIR
THANKS FOR THE BEST MUSIC THERE EVER WAS
TERRI ONEAL |
| Terry, thanks for the story! That was a good one! We enjoyed it too! |
| Comment: To all of you Louisville Doo-Woppers, we found the latest CD of Louisville Rock n'roll music of the Louisvile bands of the 50's and 60's which includes the Monarchs, Sultans, Epics, Cosmo and the Counts, and Trendells. We found the CD at EarX-tacy on Bardstown Rd.
LONG LIVE DOO-WOP ! |

| why does eddie lee run the phrase in the ground "at Fun Loving Waky every 2 seconds |
| Bob, we want everyone to know who we are! We are all proud of the name and want to shout it out! However, I will let him know that MAYBE it’s being used a bit too much! Thanks for your comments, thanks a bunch for listening….WAKY loves you! Rene’ |
| when waky radio first came out it was only am stations..i started listening at 15 yrs. old..it was so hard to get it to come in if you had a little transitor radio..haha..it was the best.. now its back and makes you feel young again..when i hear every song i can remember where i was and what i was doing. cant you??any way just wanted to say i love you all and thanks for the GREAT music.. GOD BLESS YOU ALL... |
| Rosanna, we remember too! And that's why we brought it back...thanks for letting us know you are happy to have it back! |
| I just hit scan on my radio and it landed on WAKY. What great memories, great music and the best Jocks ever. DJ's that where not only a voice in the community but also the faces by emceeing the shows and events in and around Louisville. I now have you locked in on my radio and look forward to listening to once again jocks that are excited to be on the radio and being a part of the community. One suggestion I have, add Joe Elliot to your staff. He not only is a radio legend but he is also someone who cares about the community we live in. Another question - any chance of getting from Gary Burbank any of his Chicken Man and other skits that he did when he was on Fun Lovin WAKY? |
| Steve, thanks for your suggestions and we're glad to hear that you have us locked on your radio! |
| When did you first go on air?
Thanks.
Brian |
| Brian, we went on the air May 11 of this year, 2007. |
| I heard Donald Duck singing Wild Thing years ago and wondered if you had ever heard of it or could find it... |
| No one here seems to have heard of it. Sorry! |
| So glad that WAKY is owned locally. With big radio stations they really don't care about the people who work there. Like Joe Elliot who got laid off from his job of 14 yrs...that is just wrong; giving him no warning, they should told him when he would be let go. WAKY to me is a very different station; it cares! Well I do hope you continue to take care of your staff! Thanks. |
| Michael, we are proud that we are locally owned and will continue to do business in a caring, humane, professional way. It is with everyone working as a team that we succeed and we work to never lose sight of that! |
| i love the station. a great friend of mine got me started listening. i just wanted to know when we would be able to listen online???? soon i hope
have a waky work week and god bless |
| Lyndie, I am not sure when we will be broadcasting live, but hope to in the not so far off future. |
| Is it true that the "Duke of Louisville" has been on the air? |
| Mark, that is correct, you can catch him 3 times in morning drive and 3 times in afternoon drive every Monday through Friday! |
| No question, wanted to tell story. In 1967 I was in a band called the Emeralds and we played Pleasure Manor Country Club quite often with the Duke as the DJ. He even came to my house a couple times for I think he admired my mom who was a good looking gal.
The story though, is in 1982 or 3 I was headed to work and the Duke was on a big band station driving everybody crazy every morning playing goodnight Irene. Well the emergency network did there alarm test and at the end when Bill came back on he said this has been a test of the national broadcasting network and in the event of a real disaster the only way you will get in touch with me is by way of long distance.
I laughed my axx off knowing he got a fine for what he said.
Best wishes to Bill.
Thank God, you have brought back my memories.

| I'm originally from New Albany, and listened to WAKY - 790 like all the rest of us did in the 60's. I have an album "14 By Request" and am wondering what ever happened to Cosmo and the Counts, Paul Penny, The Tren-Dells, The Sultans, and the rest of the Louisville area bands that were so popular at that time? Do you know if there is a CD copy of this record album that I can get? |
| Hello John: "14 By Request" is not available in that form on CD. The artists you asked about are pretty much alive and well. There may have been personnel changes in the groups. Paul Penny is still active in the music scene. I occasionally see him at the Lincoln Jamboree in Hodgenville. He does great impersonations of Roy Orbison and Marty Robbins. However the classic Louisville hits are available on CDs, but as I mentioned not available as "14 By Request". I have those CDs at home. I'll check them at home and let you know what I have. Thank you for your e-mail.
Happy Holidays

| I CAN REMEMBER LISTENING TO WAKY WHEN I WAS ABOUT 2 1/2YRS OF AGE.BUT THE QUESTION I HAVE,REALLY HAS TO DO WITH THE OLD WKLO WHEN THEY USED TO DO A FREE CONCERT FOR TOYS FOR TOTS AROUND THE FIRST PART OF DECEMEBER EACH YEAR,WILL WAKY POSSIBLY BEING THIS BACK. THERE ARE STILL ALOT OF YOUNG CHILDREN THAT COULD BENEFIT FROM THIS,PLUS ALOT OF THE OLD LISITENERS JUST MIGHT ATTEND.IF NOTHING ELSE JUST TAKE A POLL TO SEE HOW MANY FANS WOULD BE INTERESTED.I KNOW IN 1970,I WAS 15 AT THE TIME,WHICH WAS THE LAST ONE I ATTENDED,PEOPLE WERE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE WAS A SELL OUT!!!! I ALSO THE ONE WHOL GOT THE PETITION TO TOGETHER TO GET ONE OF THE MAIN ACTS AT THE SHOW!!!!!!!!! |
| It is so great to hear The Duke on air again. I even look forward to the drive to work now that he is on the air. Thank you and The Duke for all the great memories.Plus I would love to hear the response if you asked "Coyote" to howl again!!!! |
| Pat, thanks for your comments! Great to hear from you! |
| No question, just a comment. I was a listener before the change but even since the change, I LOVE this station. I've heard songs and artists that I never thought I'd hear again. What a great station, and a great idea. Keep up the good work. Most so-called oldies stations only begin in the mid to late 60s but you guys seem to know that it all really began in the mid-50s and play the music that illustrates that. Every time I hear one of those old songs, I mean to write, but I finally got a chance to do so. I was one of the original teens who couldn't figure out what was happening when you came on the air in the unusual way that you did, and I'll continue to be a listener as long as you keep playin' em!
Carl Lutes |
| Carl, thanks so much for being a listener and thanks for writing! We hope to continue to be your station for a long, long time! |
| Don't have a question, just want to say that it is awesome to have WAKY back!! When I listen, I can almost hear the needle being lowered onto the record. I grew up in New Albany-and remember the summer nights, of the early 60's - cruising 4th Street- listening to Waky, which was one of two stations we listened to. wonder if anyone remembers the other station? I want to thank the people that brought the station back to life. Peace. |
| Mary, thanks! |
| Will WAKY ever have the station made available to listen to live over your web site? Have a link on the website to click on and it connects you to the station so you can listen to it from your computer. |
| Maryellen, we hope to be able to stream sometime in the future, keep checking in! |
| Hi,
Are you guys going to have tickets to the Jan 13th Elvis B-day show?? If so, how can I win???
thanks!
Heather |
| Heather, I am not really in the know about that, but can tell you that if we do, all you have to do is listen and we'll let you know when and how you can win! Thanks! |
| No question just to let you know how much I enjoy your program. I remember well your very first day on the air when you played "The Purple People Eater" no matter what song you introduced. I really enjoy the songs from the 50"s since that was my "hayday." |
| Joe, thanks for letting us know you are enjoying WAKY1 |
| Listening to WAKY is walk back thru my high school years. As we built homecoming floats, did sock hops, etc @ SHS WAKY was there ! And now its back & I love it....
Question: It seems everybody remembers the Monarchs, but what about The Marlins ? They have been around some 30 years and are - in some circles - as, if not more famous. And these brothers are fantastic musicians. They tour Phoenix & Florida, but its hard to catch them around here .... What about it? |
| Linzie, because the Monarchs are do a lot of gigs around here and they use our station to promote their shows is the reason you hear about them so much. If the Marlins want to promote shows on our station, we would love to accomodate them! |
| You keep getting better & better. Was wondering if there is any plans to add possibly some early 80's music to your format. There was some good music from that period. I have been very pleased with WAKY's choice of oldies. For the 1st time in over 20 years last night I heard the song "Girl In Love" by the Outsiders on the radio. In fact the last time I heard it was on a show that Leonard Yates done on WAKY in the early 80's. Keep up the good work & keep trying to get WAKY on line. |
| Joey, thanks so much for your comments. We are trying our best to play the best of the best and will add more as time goes on. I am not so sure we'll be doing any '80 tunes anytime soon though...sorry! Hopefully, we will stream in the not so distant future. |
| I remember WAKY.Iriqouis park's lookout was the place to be.I remember sitting in my 1959 Rambler making out with my best girl.
I am curious though there was one girl who,as we made out, asked if she got pregnent would I take care of her.WHOA!
Needless to say I was outa there. What ever happend to her? |
| no question, just excitement
i feel young again. 50 now , but listened when i was 10. thanks WAKY |
| David, you are most welcome! |
| is there any plans to do live feed i can pickup using my computer? I listen to other stations this way while at work |
| Bill, sorry we are not streaming at this time! Hopefully one day soon.... |
| One of my favorite memories was Bill Baley waving to me and my "Gammy" as we passed his window on 4th while he was on the air. He always announced my bday every yr. He and my grandpa "JB" were great friends! That's how I know WAKY, through a great man called Bill Bailey! |
| No questions....just keep up the great job of providing us all of the oldies by goodies.
On occasion I call Johnny R., suggest an oldies or two, HOnky Tonk is a gfreat one, he didn't know if you even had it in your library. Esp. enjoy the history behind a song or artist, fills in all of the blanks. You-all are doing a great job, LOVE IT. |
| I grew up listening to WAKY in the 60s and loved listening to Weird Beard, Johnny Randolph, The Duke, so many memories. Thanks for bringing back WAKY! Playing the Star Spangled Banner and the Pledge of Allegiance at 6:00 a.m. in the mornings is beatiful and brings a tear to my eye. Keep up the great work! |
| Boy it is like re-living the teen years all over again. I have never lost my love for the oldies... and now WAKY is bringing the way radio really use to be... I really like the 50's and early 60's music.. My memories about WAKY were the top 40's lists you could get a VINE RECORDS or VARIETY RECORDS on 4th street. I was at the 1st Birthday Party that WAKY held at the Indian Trail Shopping Center.. My brother, Ron Young, played guitar with the band Chuck Harrod and the Anteaters ( "Sandy" which made it to #10, I think in 1959 and "They Wanna Fight" ) They did the music backup for Anita Bryant.. Boy hasn't things changed a lot?
Do you know if there are any photos or sound bites from that 1st Birthday Party?
A bit of Triva also, Wayne Young, who is still performing in Louisville today, got his start with the Anteaters.
It is just so good to hear Johnny Randolph on the air again... Would love to hear some of the DJ's from the late 50's and 60's make some special apprearances if possible.. Thanks for reviving WAKY... |
| My foundest memories of WAKY include, of course the one and only Duke of Louisville, the songs, "Shaving Cream" & "The last kiss" and the way Coyote Calhoun would scream the time at the top of the hour. You must see if Coyote will scream the time as a "special guest." God bless Bill Bailey as I know he is in declining health.
--Henry, Louisville. |

| Is DJ Chuck Jackson the same and original "Fritz"? |
| Yes! Not many know him by this name! :-) Hope you enjoyed the moment! Johnny R. |
| NO QUESTION JUST PRAISE. THANK YOU FOR REALIZING THAT THE SOUTH END IS STILL HERE. I STOPPED LISTNEING TO WAMZ BECAUSE THEY NEVER REPORTED ANY TRAFFIC PROBLEMS ON DIXIE HWY. AFTER TUNING IN TO WAKY AND HEARING YOUR REPORTS I WILL NEVER LISTEN TO ANY OTHER STATION. PLUS I DON'T MIND SITTING IN TRAFFIC LISTENING TO SUCH GREAT MUSIC!! |
| You are VERY welcome! That's what we are trying to do! Make everyone aware of things going on in the area and we appreciate that you let us know it works! |
| When will you be available on internet. Much better station than WRKA |
| We are currently researching the area and its demands for Streaming Radio. Perhaps the future may hold online streaming for us. Until then, we will continue being the best Oldies station in the country! |
| Is the Duke of Louisville Bill Baily still alive. If so what is he doing now. Also what about wierd beard. |
| He is currently residing at the Friendship House in Oldham County! He's as sharp as a tack but due to current health conditions he is spending his golden years having fun with the staff, his family and friends there!
Weird Beard is no longer living. He died roughly 10 years ago of an illness.
Both men are an asset to the WAKY legacy and are appreciated for their contributions! |

| No Qusestion! I am just so glad to hear you back on the air! I grew up in Frankfort, listening to WAKY, day in and day out. Then, around 7:30 or 8:00 at night. WAKY had to cut thier power back so we couldn't listen anymore until the next day. We were doomed to find another channel to listen to the rest of the night. I love the oldies, grew up listening to them all my life. Though, I like all kinds of music, well, most, Oldies is my fav! It just brings back great memories of my childhood! I am glad to see you back, and please don't change the music. Oldies Rock! Oh, wasn't Coyote Calhoun a DJ at Waky as well or was that in the old days of WHAS radio? |
| Peggy, yes, Coyote was a WAKY dj. Thanks for listening! |
| I grew up in Louisville and
John Randolph was great!Won alot
of pizzas and records back then on his shows. Was in Louisville a few weeks ago and
reminicing when I heard John on air.Would love to talk to him, just to see if he remembers any of us silly teens.
| Johnny's memory is as good as his on air presence! He'd love to chat with you on the request line at 502-584-9259 (waky)! Many have already called and reacquainted themselves and you are welcome to do the same! |
| Has Bill Bailey been on the air - and how is his health?
He is the greatest |
| Allen, thanks for your interest...Bill has not been on the air, he is doing very well we understand, but not up to doing an air shift. |
| What was todays playlist between 1:00 - 1:45 pm Oct 28th |
| I'm guessing you are asking about September 28?! In order to answer that, you'd need to call Les Cook on our request line at 502-584-9259 (waky)! Our playlists are not generally published or shared online. Call and he'll do his best to answer the question. |
| Has anybody thought about adding the country music to the same years that WAKY is using for rock? I am a band leader/drummer for a band in Urbana, IL that plays a mix of oldies country and oldies rock. It has been a good mix. |
| No Question, Just want to let you know that I grew up with WAKY in the sixties and It's great to have it back brother loved the Chicken Man commercial.Like everyone else I would love to listen to waky on my computer as well.WELCOME HOME!!!! |
| Carolyn, thanks! |
| I am very glad that WAKY is back. I live up in Mitchell in Southern Indiana & can't pick up the new WAKY all of the time so i am crossing my fingers like some the others hoping that it goes on line in the future. I listen to WAKY everytime im the Louisville area & for those in the Mitchell area you can start to pick up the new WAKY between Campbellsburg & Salem. Keep up the good work & keep playing the good oldies. |
| Joey, we will hope to have WAKY on line someday! We are investigating that as we speak. |
| My cousin was a part time DJ @ WAKY back in the late 60's his name was Rick Darby, He loved WAKY and never stopped takling about it until he died a few years ago. To be a DJ was his 1st love, althought he never made it outside of WAKY on a part time basis. ----WAKY was and IS KING for me as well. |
| Mike, thanks for your comments. I am not familiar with Rick Darby, though I am sure the one-and-only Johnny Randolph would remember him! |
| When will you show be available on-line? Also, sometimes I miss the top 5 @ 5 can you put those on your website too? I LOVE WAKY |
| Marlaine, Not sure when that will happen. Stay tuned in for details! |
| Just curious if there are any plans to have the legendary "Duke of Louisville" Bill Bailey as a guest DJ? That would be awesome! |
| Mark, don't think that will happen, though one never knows for sure. He is not in the best of health. But wouldn't that be sooooo great???? |
| Wednesday at just before 2:00pm you played a documentary record made by a Canadian about how We Americans are first to help in a disaster but no one comes to our aid when we need it. I have a copy of this but can't play it due to no working record player. Never the less, I wanted to thank you for playing this. I haven't heard it in a while, and it is still true today. Could you possibly play more often? |
| Bernie, thanks for your request...we'll see what we can do! |
| do you have a listing of the music you are playing daily or weekly? Where is it on your web site?? |
| Ron, sorry, we don't post our play list...you'll just have to listen! |
| You guys put WRKA to shame!!!!! I love the variety of music...THANKS!!!! |
| Carla, thanks, thanks and more thanks!! |
| I have sent a few emails to Les Cook but the last 1 came back. What is his new email address?
Thanks
P.S. More mid 50's to mid 60's please........... |
| Bill, thanks for your patience! His correct address is on the WAKY Warriors page. There was a glitch in the system but it is now corrected! Have a great day, thanks for the suggestions and keep it WAKY 1035! |
| Love your station! I wish you would have more information about up coming oldies concerts on your website. |
| Doug, I'll try and reach ya at the number you provided too but for now, WAKY puts all the concerts we are "welcoming" online on either our WAKY Happnins Page or the home page. Others may just be way out of our immediate listening area. We do ask that if you know of any shows that are not on our pages, shoot us an email...a heads up...and we'll try and get it on our events page! Thanks, Karen |
| Is there any plans to get the WAKY broadcast online in the near future? I certainly hope so. Mark |
| Mark, no plans at this time, but keep checking back...things can change at a moment's notice. |
| On August 31, 2007 my wife and I were in Corydon Indiana and I was scanning across the FM dial and heard the phrase "WAKY" coming out of my speakers and the name Johnny Randolph. I thought I had gone thru a time warp. It was great to hear that the WAKY call letters were back home. Unfortunately, I can not pick up the station in Mitchell but I am very pleased to know that WAKY lives again on the air in the Louisville area. Looking forward to being in your air space again and hope to hear you over the internet in the near furture. Best wishes!! |
| Mark - THANKS! I hope you can get to our area enough to get a good fix on the old WAKY sound and the legendary Johnny Randolph! |
| Johnnie, Want to thank Waky and all the disc jockies that participated at the fantastic oldies concert at the Ky State Fair. Leslie was awesome and sounded and looked as good as she did in the 60's. WOW!!! Lou Christie can still hit the high notes. Jay and the Americans were excellent. All 3 acts were good enough to have their own shows and worth paid admissions. Hope you can bring more oldies acts to Louisville as a Doo Wop concert. I took my daughter with me to the concert and she loved the enthusiasm of all of the acts. WAKY you are AWESOME. Thanks for more 60's type memories. Robert T. |
| Robert, you are most welcome. We look forward to future opportunities to keep this music alive and educate younger listeners like your daughter to the best music ever recorded! Thanks and stay tuned for more great stuff from the one and only WAKY! |
| Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the concert Wednesday night. Thanks a lot for the great music. |
| Bernie, thanks for letting us know that you enjoyed the show. We were glad to be a part of bringing it! |
| I went to the free concert last night to see Lesley Gore, etc., that's when I found out that WAKY was back. I was excited! I live in Frankfort Ky and back years ago when we got WAKY, reception was no problem. Now reception isn't that good here. What are the chances of it getting better and why was it better back then? Thanks, Janice |
| Janice, that was because of being on the AM band. We are an FM station and must protect other FM stations and not interfere with their signals. Sorry! |
| Gary Burbank is retiring this year from Clear Channel (WLW).
What ARE the chances?? How about getting The Duke of Louisville out of that nursing home once a week for
a guest spot? |
| Barbara, we would love to have as many old WAKY DJ's as possible do a guest spot, we have gotten a couple in already. From what i understand, the Duke is not quite up to doing something like that. |
| Hey guys. Don't have a question, I have a comment. Just wanted to tell you'all "YEA MAN !!" My wife and I attended the oldies show at the fair last night. What a great show!. We had a blast. By the way,I was born and raised in Corydon, In. Les and I probably crossed paths a time or two. |
| Jerry, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! |
| Are you guys gonna fix it to where I can listen on the net? I can't get 103.5 in Russell County. |
| Jacky, we do not have any such plans at this time. We might add that sometime in the future. Sorry you can't get us! How did you find us if you can't pick us up? |
| Just wanted to say! I surfed radio stations on the way to work one am when I heard the old "WAKY" id voice. I stopped and was I glad. Can't tell you how much I enjoy the station - back - just like the early years. Listening puts me in such a good mood! Thank you SO MUCH for being back! Even without Bill Bailey, the station rocks! |
| Connie, thanks for letting us know how you feel! It is important to us to know if we are doing things right! |
| Why can't I listen to WAKY on my computer? We can't pick it up in our office building off Dutchmans Pkwy |
| Sandy, we aren't streaming, so therefore you can't get us on the internet! |
| Could you tell us about Chris Lundy (or Lundi), a DJ who worked at WAKY in 1971 - 1972? I believe Chris was 26 years old at the time. Me and some other young gals used to walk by the station and wave to Chris on our way to Sullivan College, located down the street. Chris would play a song for us occasionally and this was the highlight of our day!
It's been fabulous hearing about all the DJs who worked at WAKY years ago! Thanks for playing such great oldie tunes today. You fellows rock! |
| Susan, he lives and works in Greenwood, Ms. - which is his hometown. Johnny Randolph |
| Are there any photos of the tower erected in Ranch House parking lot in 1958? That is where WAKY was first introduced to me when i was a small boy of five years old.I also would enjoy working for your station if at all possible. Now i'm 54 and there is nothing better than the memories that WAKY 103.5 is supplying to its listeners. To be a part of this team would be a dream come true. Please Continue "The Wonderful Memories,And The Great Tunes." |
| Hey Gary: Boy you got me on the tower question. Actually this was before my time in Louisville and it's the first time I've heard about it.
Thanks for listening to WAKY. Johnny Randolph |
| So glad WASE did NOT go country. Remember listening to the Duke of Louisville and Reed Yadon on the radio in the mornings. Also, at 11:30 or so on friday nights, Coyote Calhoun would play Amanda by Waylon Jennings. |
| We are glad too but we always have to keep you on your toes! :-) It's great to know that the good ole days are here again and that you are a part of the family. Welcome! |
| You guys need to dig out the old WAKY coutdowns that used to come out and use that as a playlist for friday nights. It would be so great to hear the stuff that was popular in this area, and not what was popular in the country. You guys are awsome! |
| How funny you would bring that up! That is exactly what we are doing. It's friends like you that can help our playlist grow! Make sure you take the WAKY Listener Poll and send us your favorite WAKY single we are not playing! This has proven to be a great way to get your thoughts on the subject so be sure and send us your songs! |
| Love your station! I remember the Purple People Eater playing all day long!
Would you be able to plug our school reunion?
Flaherty High School 1935-1969 Reunion.......Sat.Sept.8th.......noon until ?
on the old school grounds..Flaherty, Ky.
Anyone who graduated or even attended is welcome to the potluck picnic that day! Thanks! |
| Oh Ya! Purple People Eater! That was the biggest memory recall in WAKY'S hisory! :-) No problem on the Reunion too! Have a great time and keep it on WAKY 103.5! |
| Johnnie R. Thanks for all the memories old and new. Listening to WAKY brings back alot of wonderful memories of cruising in my '62 Chevy with my favorite girl. She would call for a dedication of There's A Moon Out Tonight and then call me to make sure I was listening. Now my life long best friend "Eyes" and I listen while we shoot pool at his house. Great to have you back!!! I am also huge Ky. Wildcats fan ever since Adolf Rupp coached Louie Dampier and Dan Issel. I am a "Oldies" in many ways. Robert T. |
| Hey Robert: Thanks for writing and listening. You are right on...There's a Moon Out Tonight is one great song. The bulk of the singers on that song joined the New York police dept.
Best. Johnny R. |
| I remember cruising 4th St. in 1969 and 1970. I was attending UEI in Shively. Am glad I found you again. What ever happened to "the Weird Beard"? Music is gr8, same as when I found you the 1st time. |
| Hey Donald. Thanks for writing. The Weird Beard died about ten years ago. It's a sad story in that shortly after he left WAKY he developed either M.S or M.D. It was a long death for him but he never lost his sense of humor.
Thanks for listening. Johnny Randolph |
| Who is the artist that sang Sunny |
| Bobby Hebb! Thanks for listening and if you need more information on artists and songs be sure and stop by the Mr. Oldie Knows page! |
| need information ( i think i heard ) bout a halloween cruise -waky was sponsoring |
| To this I say, "Hmmm." If there is a WAKY Cruise, we will most certainly get the word out! That should happen, if there's a cruise, closer to the time of the event! Also, check our events calendar in case it's a car club putting it on using the WAKY name in our honor. If you have an event, click on our "contact" web page and send us the info! We'll give ya a shout out! |
| Are you going to put the "now playing songs" on your web site again? |
| Jeanne, we never had the "now playing" banner on our web site, so you must have us confused with someone else! But at any rate, we don't have any plans to do do at this time. |
| When you play the commercial with the chipmunk voice spelling WAKY radio 103.5 I can't resist singing WAKY Radio 790. |
| Bernie, keep singing and tell all your friends! |
| Where else can you hear "Resurrection Shuffle" on a Saturday afternoon in 2007? on WAKY Radio, of course. You have the best library of any oldies station and, get this, are not afraid to play some more songs that the other stations never even heard of. To the best and most knowledgeable DJ's in the country. HIP HIP HOORAY!
I would like to get your email address. was at the Bass Pro Shop and took a pic of the dj's there, and they wanted a copy, but the email address he gave was not a good one. Thanks, Guys |
| Jerry, Thanks for your input! We love it! |
| I just want to say welcome back Johnnie Randolph. It was great hearing you again after all these years. |
| Bernie, Johnnie is a great addition and brings back that "WAKY" touch, that's for sure. We are happy to have him here and he says he's having a ball! Thanks! |
| I heard, some time ago, that Bill Bailey is in a nursing home here in Louisville. He was the greatest! Can you give out any information on him? By the way, thanks for bringing the "old time" oldies back, especially the 50's and early 60's. |
| Sandra: other that what you already know, we can't add much to that. He is in a nursing home, but they say his mind and voice are still the same, he has had a slight stroke and can't get around quite as well. And you are welcome, we love playing those oldies but goodies! |
| I listened to WAKY back in the 60's in Springfield, KY when I was a kid, and I just want to let you guys know what a TERRIFIC job you're doing. It's fantastic to hear a "tight" show again. Do you plan on bringing back any more of the old DJ's? Please, keep up the great work, and I'll keep listening. |
| Bill: SWEET! LOVE hearing that from old WAKY fans. Looking forward to a long, long time of playing the music we grew up with! |
| I just wanted to let you know how happy I am WAKY is back. The first saturday you were back I had no clue it was going to happen. I was cleaning house and heard "WAKY" I was no way did that say WAKY? I was almost brought to tears! Instead I jumped on my bicycle with a banana seat and basket, grabbed my transistor and took off thru the neighborhood! I Love WAKY! |
| Kay, so very very glad we made you that kind of happy! |
| WILL THERE EVER BE A WAKY LISTENERS REUNION DANCE? I AM A LADY TRUCKER, I HAUL OVERNITE AIR FREIGHT, I REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO WAKY ON MY WAY OUT AND BACK IN, GREAT MUSIC.
I STILL HAVE A '79 WAKY RAMBLIN' RAFT RAGE TEE SHIRT AND MY TRANSISTOR RADIO I WON SAVING BOTTLE CAPS FROM COKE BOTTLES. YOURS IN GOLDEN OLDIES HEAVEN. |
| Shirley: Thanks for listening! I don't know about the dance, we may have to think about working on something like that! That's cool that you have hung onto all that stuff for so long. |
| Heyyyyyyy Johnny! It's really good to hear you again. I was really excited when you announced that WAKY was back that first day. Now to hear you everyday is a blast from the past and a real treat. Thanks to everyone that had a part in bringing WAKY back I have noticed the station has expanded its playlist and is playing more of the fifties and early sixties. I used to love the golden oldie week-ends on the old WAKY. I guess they are all golden oldies now so keep expanding the play list. I also like to say that I appreciate the fact that the DJ's personalities are allowed to shine through. All of you keep doing what you are doing and I'll do my part and keep listening. |
| James: thanks for the good words! We are trying hard to recreate WAKY as it was, just for you! |
| My 6 year old granddaughter loves to hula hoop and can do so for almost 30 minutes non stop...WAKY should hold a contest in Louisville with all age groups..I'm pretty sure you did one in the 60's! any chance? |
| Phee: I am not sure if one was done or not; and I can't say if we will be doing something like that in the future. If we do, we'll promote, promote, promote on the air for sure, so stay tuned in! |
| When will WAKY be heard on line? Also I remember when Reed Yadon pulled a birthday prank on Bill Bailey and Bailey was locked up Jack Nevin ( former Cheif of Police) and the "DAY when "One eyed one horned flying purple people eater" was played literly all day long.
Thank you WACKY
Old Rocker's can still "tune in, turn on and take over!" |
| Bill: Thank You! The response to WAKY has been huge and we hope it will continue.....as far as being online, we are waiting for the ruling on streaming fees from the FCC before we jump off that bridge, so I don't have a good answer for that one. As soon as we can, once we know for sure what those fees will be and that they aren't prohibitive for a locally owned operation like ours! |
| I too would like to thank you for bringing back the big 79WAKY(103.5). I couldn't believe my ears the first weekend you came back on the air! I thought I had gone back in time. It literally brought tears to my eyes to hear those call letters again. So much of today's radio is cut and dried and boring. I'm glad you guys are back so everyone can hear what great radio was all about. Keep up the good work. Welcome back Johnny R. and hope more come with you. I would like to know what happened to Steven Lee Cook? I always enjoyed listening to him on WASE. |
| Tom: THANK YOU!! We are working hard at bringing back WAKY as it was back in the day, at least the best we can in this day and time! Steven Lee Cook is no longer with us of course; he is selling vehicles we believe. Keep us locked on for more of WAKY in the future! |
| why did you change michael marvin for this johnny randolf? he talks before songs and before they end. i am sorry but i am 56 years old and i grew up with the old waky. i will continue to listen. Bring back m m |
| Hi this is Johnny Randolph. Actually Mike Marvin never left. He is on WAKY from 7-mid.
Hope all is well. |
| It's great listening to WAKY and especially hearing Johnny Randolph again. Takes me back to the days when radio was not just music and traffic reports, but personalities. Radio was part of our culture, as was Johnny, The Duke, Skinny Bobby Harper and the entire WAKY team of the 60's and 70's. Life was so simple, you were either a Ford or Chevy man, and you were either a WAKY or KLO man. And yes, FM was for sissies. Thank you for allowing me to relive small parts of my past. The trips back are great, even though they last only a couple of minutes at a time. |
| Jack: Thanks for taking the time to let us know how you feel! We appreciate that, AND your listening! |
| Who sings yellow ribbon around the old oak tree? |
| Erin: Tie A Yellow Ribbon Around The Old Oak Tree was performed by Tony Orlando & Dawn. |
| I Love your station. It brings back so many memories. You make my long drive to and from work a joy. I too would love to have streaming so I could listen at work. I would truly be a happy camper then. I would also like to request more Bob Seger. Keep up the good work. |
| Marilyn: Thanks! Keep listening and we'll work on the Bob Seger request! |
| Thought it was a big tease at first - but you guys are back!
It's like the moment in "Back to the Future" when Marty McFly walks back into the 50's malt shop. You can almost smell the sweet sounds on the air!
Keep up the great work! |
| Martin: Thanks so much! Glad you like it! |
| Just want to say WELCOME BACK. I grew up with WAKY and if you all stay I will go out with WAKY.It brings back old memories for me as I know for alot of people.I was flipping channels in the car and heard an old familiar sound WAKEEEE oh I was so happy. no more channel surfing. WAKY IS BACK Thank you so much for bringing it back. You guys were missed.WAKY #1 |
| Judy: Thanks so much for your email! You and people like you are the very reason we made the switch and we certainly hope to be around as long as you are! |
| Are you going on internet so I can listen to Fast Eddie Lee? We loved listening to him when in Florida and miss him very much. Please let us know if and when this will happen or if we can listen to him some other way. Thank you fans of Fast Eddie Lee |
| Norma: Sorry, we aren't going to be streaming anytime soon. I will share your email with Fast Eddie, that'll make his day! Thanks for listening! |
| Are you broadcasting in HD? The HD web site lists your station but my HD radio does not indicate you broadcasting in HD. |
| Glenn: we do have HD installed, but have it turned off at the present time due, in part, to technical problems. We are unsure when we will be turning it back on. Thanks for your interest! |
| Are any of the old disc jockeys gonna come back and do a show? I would love to hear them especially The Weird Beard. Would love to know what they are doing now also. By the way I love your format. Came back to Louisville for a visit and heard the station while driving down 65. I sang to all the songs and my 10 yr. old daughter thought I was crazy. |
| Alice: We are lovin' it also! As far as the old DJ's, we do have Johnny Randolph with us doing afternoons...he is SO great!....and there is talk of others doing some guest shows, we'll just have to wait and see how that works out. Listen whenever you are in the area! Thanks! |
| i want a t-shirt. i love the radio station. reminds of the good old days. thank you |
| Sara: we are out and about live at various locations on remotes pretty often and giving away station shirts at those, be listening and show up with the phrase that will probably get you a shirt: WAKY's BACK! |
| I love you guys! That is everyone of you! I listen to you all of the time and I want to send a special thanks to Johnny Randolph for his providing years of memories at the original WAKY. |
| Ron: Thanks a bunch for listening...we love you too! |
| This morning (Fri. 7/6/07) on the news the DJs were talking about a small child, I believe, that had been setting on the drain in a pool and the suction was so great it caused some internal damage to them. First, was this a true happening and second if so, could you elaborate more as to where, and how old the victim was. |
| I looked up the story for you...here's what I've got. Pray for her continued healing and the safety of others.
Abigail Taylor was severely injured Friday when she sat over an open drain hole in a wading pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club. Taylor said as Abigail was getting out of the pool, she fell.
"She more or less blacked out, she passed out, fell face-first onto the pool decking," he said. The family thought it was a seizure. An ambulance rushed her to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Several hours later a surgeon said Abigail was lucky to be alive. "The suction had caused a two-inch tear in her rectum and had basically disemboweled her by pulling out her small intestines, almost all of it," said Taylor. Her father said a search of the pool filter turned up Abigail's intestine. He said Abigail was seriously wounded because the cover of the drain had been removed.Abigail will have to be fed intravenously for the rest of her life and will have to have a colostomy bag. "We view it as a miracle that she's still with us," her father said. She is improving. Wednesday morning she stunned her family by asking a question. "She said, 'Am I going to be on the news?' She said, 'Why do you ask?' She said, 'Because I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else,'" recalled Taylor. Sad but true. A warning to the rest of us. |
| It is great to hear WAKY back on the air again!! Every time I pass 4th Street, I still think of the DJ in the window and Vine Records!
It is so refrshing to hear Johnny R. back in town again. One of my all-time favorite sayings is, "No matter where you go, there you are!!!
Welcome back and congratulations! |
| Kathy: Thanks for being a loyal WAKY fan! We are proud to bring WAKY back! |
| Would you please play more of
Elvis Presley? |
| Mary Ann: I'll pass this along to our program director and morning show host, Les Cook. Thanks for your request and for listening! |
| No question, just wanted to congratulate for bringing WAKY back. I grew up with Bill Bailey and Gary Burbank - two of the greatest DJ's in the country. And WAKY had them! Your current format, with the jingles and promos, sound like the 60's and 70's again! I love it! I was hoping someone would format an oldies station like 79 WAKY or 1080 WKLO used to sound and you guys have done it! Thanks again. I hope you sell lots of ads and make piles of $$. |
| Ken, thanks! :-) |
| why name of each tune and the singer deleted from your airwaves? |
| Cyril: We do announce the artist and song going in or coming out unless there is content that needs to be inserted and we just run out of time. Does that answer your question? |
| WAKY is the best radio station in the area. I only listen to WAKY all the time out by the pool You guys ROCK
| Thanks, Ron! |
| Love having WAKY back again! Thanks to all who brought it back. Could you play some songs by Rick Nelson, Bobby Vee, and the Everly Bros? thanks again! |
| Cheryl, thanks for your comments! We will do our best to get those in! |
| Visiting Louisville last weekend and found your station. I listened all weekend. Great format. Keep the playlist large. Please consider streaming so I can hear you at home!!!! |
| Ron, thanks for your remarks! We love the positive feedback. |
| Do you plan to broadcast on the internet so that fans from the early days can enjoy your broadcasts out-of-state? |
| C. Victor: no plans at this time to broadcast on the internet. Hopefully when all the legal issues are resolved, we will be able to jump on it! |
| HI Folks... While listening and driving to the office at 7 a.m. I heard some "decide to be married day" comments by your DJ. Y'all should do everything in your efforts to uplift and support marriage, not degrade it. |
| I'm happily married and have been for a long time! I love my wife and she knows that. Our station likes to poke fun and have some laughs every now and then at a variety of subjects! Believe it or not, there are some folks that actually have different feelings than you and I do personally so, I try and give every one a shot airing their opinions. I do that in the hopes that I will not offend anyone and we can all "not take ourselves too seriously." In that I say I apologize for causing you some heartburn. Thanks for being a faithful WAKY fan and any show prep ideas you may have would be most welcome! |
| Just found your music on the radio. Sounds great! Keep playing the hits between 1969-1973 |
| Thanks Kevin! We will do our best to do continue the tradition! |
| No question, Just glad WAKY is back! |

| OK John R.....haven't heard "Summertime" I know you have it somewhere. Good to hear you local again. Lunch sometime? The real Peter B. |
| The other day you ran an old comedy segment of the Sonny & Cher Show. I really enjoyed it. Please play other comedy classics. It is great that WAKY is back!!!!! |
| Jim: You heard that on Machine Gun Kelly's "Daily Time Warp" show. It's a good idea and I'll try to find some of that stuff for the morning funnies. Thanks for listening! |
| I remeber the first day of WAKY. My Dad thought it was stupid, plsyiong the same song over and over. But we all learned the "Flying Purple People Eater" by heart. Did you know the artist was Sheb Wooley? High Noon, Rawhide, Silverado and Hooisers! |

| No questions, just KUDOS..................AWSOME! I have been an oldies fanatic for 45 years. I have heard many radio stations who proclaim to be an 'oldies' station. You guys are the BEST I have heard in quite some time. my outlook is, if you have a record library, why not play the whole library? Why do so many keep X, Y, and Z on the shelf? Your repitoir has amazed me. I am hearing stuff I forgot was even recorded. ................. all I can say is..........KEEP IT UP! DON'T EVER STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! (ps, how can I get a T-shirt?) KUDOS TO ALL! |
| Dan, appreciate all the compliments! Thanks! As far as getting a tshirt, we are working on getting those and will be out and about in the next few months to get those in your hands...just keep listening for the details! |

| I read the questions section. So my question is, why have a playlist? There have to be thousands of songs worth playing and worth hearing again. Late 50's music and that doo wop period may well be the all time golden era in music. We've all heard the Spaniels Goodnight Sweetheart but I bet it's not on your playlist. Maybe a year or two ago I called Mr. Marvin to request Patches by Gickie Lee. He said even though it made it to number 6 nationally, it wasn't on their playlist (at least at that time). So from the department of redundancy, Dept. Why have a playlist?
Thanks for the great music anyway.
Bob Gaines |
| That is a good question Bob. We have a play list because it helps us organize the music and rotate it in a way to reach our target demographics. If we just put a couple thousand songs in and played them randomly it would be a mess and the station would not sound consistent from one hour to the next. So, that is the short answer to why we have a play list. Thanks for listening and taking the time to contact us. |

| I have died and gone back to my childhood! Instead of a bicycle and a transistor radio, it's a cavalier convertible with the top down
and my favorite WAKY blasting. You have made my summer, and maybe my life!Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! See you at Three Dog Night! |
| I just wanted to thank everybody for a wonderful night at Van Dells concert. Thanks again, Rick and Cathy Parman. |
| Rick: You are more than welcome! That's what WAKY likes to do - make happy listeners! |
| Any chance of real live radio on line. Radio reception at work is very bad, would love to listen at work.
Remember the "old" WAKY; Love the "new" WAKY!!!
| Teresa: We are looking into streaming, but not sure if and when we will decide to do that. We're happy to hear that you love the "new" WAKY! |
| Would you put the play list on the website? Sometimes I don't catch the name of groups? Please and GLAD you're back Johnny Randolph |
| Karol: Sorry, we don't post our playlist. Johnny is glad to be back and we are glad to have him! |
| Any truth to the rumor that the new afternoon jock intro'd a Neil Sadaka tune by saying "Neil Sadakee on WAKEE" ??? If so, Welcome Back Johnny Randolph!! |
| Travis: Yep, that would be the one and only Johnny....he is such a great asset to the station! |
| WAKY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What better way to feel young again!
It makes want to get in my car & go to Iroquois Park with my can of Turtle Wax shine my ride, crank up the radio, & watch the cars cruise by. What a rush.
Thanks guys & keep it coming!! |
| Raymond - You are welcome and we'll keep it coming! |
| I can't remember the date WAKY came on the air but I seem to remember it was Jack Sanders who locked himself in the control booth at the station and kept playing The Purple People Eater over and over again. WAKY aka wase is as far as my opinion the best oldies station I have heard anywhere. You don't hear the same song over again every hour. Good job WAKY!! |
| Yep, Ray, you are right - Purple People Eater WAS played over & over when they originally kicked the station off. We gave it one spin as the first song when we changed WASE over to WAKY just for old times sake! Thanks for your opinion - we sure love to hear those type of comments! |

| What was the name of the song that was playing at @ 8:40 this morning, 6/12/07? Would also like the name of the artist. Thanks |
| Hi Pamela, the name of the song is "I Will Always Think About You" by the New Colony Six, a group from Chicago. The song went to #22 in 1968. Thanks for listening and tell all your friends that WAKY's back!!! Thanks. |
| I remember moving here for my junior year in high school and the very first thing I did was join in the WAKY Walkathon; I had a blast and met many wonderful people. I am so glad you are back on the air. I too have heard many songs that I have not heard in years and am enjoying them immensely. I too wish I could pick up your station at work and would love to see the last song played on your website as it is on many others. Thanks for bringing back some of the greatest memories. Pam, Louisville |
| Pamela: We are having a blast serving up all those great songs and memories for fans of the WAKY legend. We are working hard on getting our booster up and running to help fill in areas that may be having a harder time getting our signal. Hopefully, it will work for your location. Keep us tuned in and we will continue the tradition of WAKY!! |
| YES - please broadcast online. I would love to listen at work. |

| Debbie V.: LOVE your station. I'm a transplant from California, came to southern Indiana in 2005. WASE has been my favorite - but WAKY is even better! I graduated in 1969, so your lineup, and its great variety, are all the songs I loved growing up. I sing along a lot which really gives me a lift. Thanks for playing the early 1960's songs. I heard "Sugar Shack" a few days ago - that was one of the first songs playing when I started listening to popular radio. My only request is more Surf Music - Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Surfaris, Dick Dale, Ventures, etc. Also love Ricky Nelson and Everly Brothers, and more! |

| Chris Profitt:
I grew up in listening to WAKY in the summers and on weekends when I visited my grandparents in Henry County, KY. Just knowing you are back brings back such memories!! When are you going to simulcast on the web for those of us who don't live in Louisville but would be listening all of the time if we could? |
| Chris, We are in the process of reviewing the streaming issue. There are some legal matters we are waiting to see how they get resolved (on fees and such), so I don't have a good answer as to if or when we will stream. If we do, we will be sure to promote it on-air so everyone will know and you can always check out our website! Thanks! |

| Kim Whelan:
I was in SHOCK when I turned on the radio and was scanning for something to listen to and came across WAKY... I grew up with WAKY in the 60's and 70's and can reminiscence about songs that I knew and loved.. I can't begin to express my excitement and appreciation to those that have brought back my youth in the form of the music I knew and loved... I have made tons of calls to friends and loved ones letting them know that WAKY is back... It's like you never left !!! THANKS !!! |
| Kim, I am glad to hear you found us and we are happy to deliver WAKY to fans! |
| Karen:
Will there be any other original WAKY DJ's jumping on board? We really love the addition of Johnny Randolph! While everyone we know has aged...he still sounds like the original WAKY! Thanks for your time! |
| Karen, you are so right, he does sound just like back in the day! We are as happy to have him as our on-air listeners are! |
| Bernie Tabler:
I, like many others thought you were changing to Country. I do like Country as well, but when I heard the call letters WAKY I went ecstatic. I thought I would never hear them again. I have nothing but a GREAT THANK YOU to the owners of the station for the foresight to make this happen. I also listen to WRKA but Wase played older songs that WRKA didn't and now WAKY is playing even better selections. I'm re-living my early teen years. Bernie Tabler |
| Bernie, You are MORE Than welcome. We will do our best to continue the tradition of WAKY and also give you the selection of songs to keep us as your #1 choice. Thanks so much for your comments! |

| Mary Jones:
My first memory of WAKY was 11-12-1956 (my sister's tenth birthday party) When did it first air? |
| Mary, WAKY actually didn't go on the air until 1958, according to our very own Johnny Randolph. Though we can't remember the exact date, if we come across it, we will let you know. |
